Description

The Global Mobility Office of the Vice-Rectory for International Affairs at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile announces the opening and guidelines of the NOC Program for undergraduate and master's students of the university.

The “The National University of Singapore Overseas Colleges (NOC)” program offers an opportunity for students to complete professional internships in Singapore start-ups for a duration of 6 months. The program is designed with the aim of contributing to the development of skills related to innovation and entrepreneurship.

Additionally, students will be able to enroll in courses at the National University of Singapore while collaborating with innovative companies and communities, gaining access to the university ecosystem and support networks.


Objectives and Structures

OBJECTIVES

  • Learn about entrepreneurship through a practice-based approach in which students acquire global competencies.
  • Build a solid network with entrepreneurs, alumni, and investors through an internship opportunity in a start-up connected to the NUS ecosystem.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

  • 6-month paid professional internship in start-ups in Singapore (within the NUS ecosystem).
  • Collaborative work among peers for the development of innovative ideas during the semester in which the mobility takes place.
  • Mentoring and resources to test students' innovative ideas.
  • Enrollment in 2 courses related to innovation at the National University of Singapore.

  • ETP4212 Venture Creation- Process and Mindset (4 NUS credits)

To inquire about potential credit transfers, each student must discuss with their Academic Unit.


Requirements

Students applying for this program must meet the following requirements to be nominated by UC Chile for the NOC program.

  • Be a regular Undergraduate or Master's student at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.
  • Have completed at least 2 semesters at the time of application, to start the mobility at least from the 3rd semester of the program. In the case of a Master's program, have completed at least 1 semester.
  • Have credits yet to be taken that can be validated upon return to Chile.
  • Have no record of acts that violate the UC Honor Code, nor have a sanction issued by the university's General Secretary.
  • English proficiency certificate of minimum B2 level (TOEFL, IELTS or DUOLINGO).

Additionally, students wishing to participate in this program must submit documentation that will be reviewed by the NOC program team. Documentation to be submitted:

  • Updated curriculum vitae in English.
  • Motivation letter (maximum 450 words) in English.
  • Cumulative academic record
  • English proficiency certificate of minimum B2 level (the same as the requirements for UC Chile nominations)

Application

The call for applications is directed at students who demonstrate interest in innovation, technology, and research.


Benefits

All selected students must fulfill the responsibilities detailed below:

  • Fully comply with the tasks and schedules established by the start-up where they will carry out their professional internship.
  • Attend and actively participate in the enrolled courses, in addition to activities that may be planned within the framework of the NOC program.
  • Cover their stay, migration procedures, and travel (round trip). Students may apply for the VRAI scholarship to finance the mentioned costs. This program does not interfere with any scholarships or credits that the selected student may have, as they will maintain their status as a regular student at UC.
  • Maintain fluid communication with the person in charge of their mobility at NUS, in addition to the VRAI Support Coordinator. For the latter, the following is considered: meetings with the corresponding coordinator, completing travel protocols, among others.
  • Report on their progress to the Support Manager. It is the student's responsibility to communicate any situation that requires support from the University.
  • Upon selection, students will be considered UC Ambassador Students. Therefore, they must commit to outstanding academic and social behavior while participating in the program.

Selection criteria

All applications to the program must be made through the platform established by the Vice-Rectory of International Affairs.

APPLICATION FORM:

Students who meet the requirements indicated above will be eligible for the program. It is the exclusive responsibility of the student to present the required information and documentation.

The applications received will be formally reviewed to verify if they comply with the terms and conditions established in this document. For this, the Global Mobility Department will evaluate each application according to the following criteria:

  • Participation in extracurricular activities.
  • Experience in areas of leadership, innovation, or entrepreneurship.

MOTIVATION LETTER (9 points)

  • Mentions the impact and contribution of this opportunity to their education.
  • Mentions areas for improvement and how this opportunity can contribute to them.
  • Mentions their interest in innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
  • How the student plans to contribute with the knowledge and skills acquired to the community (program, university, and society).

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT (3 points)

  • Meets the specific standards established for the program. In this criterion, students will only be evaluated according to the minimum score established for the certification they present.
