Description

The objective of this agreement is to define the terms of collaboration that regulate a Double Degree agreement between the partner institution and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.

Students who meet all the requirements for obtaining a Double Degree will be able to obtain a degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and another degree from the foreign institution, granting the student a diploma from each institution.

Involved Reviewers

  • Vice-Rectory of International Affairs
  • Academic Vice-Rectory (Academic Directorate of Teaching and Academic Records).
  • Faculty/Academic Unit.
  • Counterpart Institution.

Responsibilities

The results of the Double Degree Agreement will be evaluated at the midpoint of its validity and prior to its conclusion. Therefore, the respective Faculty/Unit will be requested to provide information on the activities and projects carried out with the partner institution.

Estimated Completion Time

5 months – 7 months

Processing Flow

  • Verify in the Repository of International Agreements if a Double Degree agreement with the same characteristics as the one sought to be established already exists.
  • If it does not exist, contact the International Agreements and Evaluation team (jialarcon@uc.cl) indicating the Double Degree characteristics to be regulated and the corresponding institution.
  • The team will send an Agreement Proposal form.
  • After receiving the form, the team will evaluate the request and notify if:
    a) Additional information is required.
    b) The proposal is accepted and can continue the process.
    c) It is not appropriate to continue with the request.

If the proposal is accepted, the Faculty or Unit must obtain the signature of the form by the Dean or the highest authority of the Central Unit to formally initiate the agreement process.

Once the signed form is received, the Agreements and Evaluation team will work together with the respective Faculty or Unit and the Academic Vice-Rectory (Academic Directorate of Teaching and Academic Records) in the elaboration of a proposal, which will then be sent to the counterpart.

The counterpart will work on that proposal and then send their version to the Agreements and Evaluation team.

  • The Agreements and Evaluation team will review the proposal and work on the document together with the Academic Vice-Rectory and the Legal Affairs Directorate (DAJ).
  • The agreement will be iterated between the counterpart and the DAJ until a final version is obtained.

If the agreement includes clauses that may compromise the University’s indemnity, the Faculty or Unit must submit an Internal Mandatory Declaration (DOI) to continue with the process. This must be signed by the Dean of the Faculty or the highest authority of the Unit.

  • Will send the final version of the agreement to the Legal Affairs Directorate (DAJ) and coordinate the signing process.
  • Only signatures from legal representatives of the institutions involved will be accepted.
  • Once signed, the agreement will be filed in the VRAI records and uploaded to the Repository of International Agreements.
  • The VRAI will send a final copy to the counterpart and ensure that the UC Faculty/Unit also receives it.

UC Agreement Models

The Vice-Rectory of International Affairs encourages the use of UC models to expedite the iteration and signing of the international agreement. Consult for UC drafts with the head of International Agreements, Javiera Alarcón (jialarcon@uc.cl).
