The group of academics from the National University of Singapore (NUS) arrived at UC Headquarters on Monday morning and were welcomed by the Strategic Relations team of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office for International Affairs with a brief tour of the main campus spaces.

During the morning, they met with the Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Lilian Ferrer, and her management team. In joint coordination, the National University of Singapore delegation presented its offerings and collaboration options to UC undergraduate and graduate students. UC professionals involved in the internationalization of various units also participated in an informational session held on Monday at UC Headquarters, and a second session on the San Joaquín campus on Tuesday afternoon.

The NUS Outreach and Admissions team opened both sessions, led by Professor Caroline Lee. Senior Executive Leong Lin Chin introduced the National University of Singapore to the attendees, reviewing its history and global positioning in various fields, where it stands out as a leader in research and innovation.

The visiting scholars then presented their areas of study, emphasizing internationalization and the opportunities available to foreign students to be part of NUS and collaborate with other students and university professionals.

UC students showed great interest in the Asian university, closing the sessions with a pleasantly participatory Q&A session, where questions arose regarding accommodation, scholarships, funding, and language options.

Over the past few years, and thanks to a strong commitment from both institutions to establishing academic and development collaborations between Chile and Singapore, the National University of Singapore and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile have worked hand in hand to create spaces and opportunities for their university communities.

Last year, the two institutions co-organized “Singapore at UC Chile,” a consolidation event open to the public that showcased Singaporean and Chilean culture, fused in a single space. It was attended by distinguished diplomatic officials from both countries, from the Asian university, and from UC Chile.

That same year, the special “NUS Overseas College (NOC)” program was launched, a mobility program that offers UC Chile students the opportunity to complete their professional internships with NUS partner startups and also take courses at the Singaporean university. This makes UC the first Chilean university to sign an agreement of this nature with the world’s No. 8 university ( NUS, QS Ranking 2025 ). The first three students participating in this 2024-2025 program will depart in the coming weeks.

This is in addition to the recent participation of 10 scholarship students in the NUS Enterprise Summer Programme in Entrepreneurship , an international summer school that in its 2024 version will host more than 300 students from 22 countries.
