Assignment, Adjustment, and Confirmation
The allocation of spots for the exchange pre-selection call is done exclusively according to academic priority, regardless of whether you complete the application form on the first or last day of the online application process.
Pre-selection for Bilateral Exchange and Double Degree/Qualification
For each university in the bilateral exchange program, there is a limited number of spots that varies from semester to semester, which you can review in the spot availability list.
Students with current academic or disciplinary sanctions will not be considered for the spot allocation process and may reapply only once the sanction has been lifted.
The allocation of spots for the exchange pre-selection call is done exclusively according to academic priority, regardless of whether you complete the application form on the first or last day of the online application process.
What Does Allocation by Academic Priority Mean?
Academic priority is an index calculated by Academic Records, which considers cumulative weighted average, curricular progress, and the proportion of credits approved. All variables are standardized by major to correct for existing differences.
The academic priority used in the allocation of spots is sent directly to the VRAI from the university systems, therefore it has no involvement or responsibility in its calculation.
To assign a spot, all students who have applied in the call are ranked by academic priority, allocating the spots from the highest ranked downwards, always respecting the order of university priorities that each student has indicated (first, it's checked if it's possible to assign their first priority, if not, the second, and so on).
Due to the above, it is recommended to make a strategic application, always indicating several university options. In the online application, you can select up to 10 different options, but it is advisable to put those that really interest you, since if you are assigned one and then reject it, you are automatically placed in withdrawal status.
While the online application process is open, you can enter the form as many times as you want to make changes to your options. The last submission you make is the one that will be considered in the allocation of spots.
The results are informed via email at least 3 weeks after the application deadline and can be:
- With assigned spot: the student will have the option to accept it and continue in the process or reject it and withdraw from the process.
- Without assigned spot: the student will have the option to participate in the spot adjustment or withdraw from the process.
Spot Adjustment for Participants of the Single Pre-Selection Call
If the student was not assigned a spot in any of their indicated options, they may participate in the spot adjustment process. Students with an assigned spot in the single call cannot participate in the spot adjustment.
What does it consist of?
- It is a second call exclusively for students who were not assigned any spot for their options.
- You can choose among the universities offered for the exchange pre-selection call that still have available spots after the first allocation. The updated list will be published before the start of the adjustment call.
- The allocation of spots is done by Academic Priority.
- To apply, you must log in again to the Online Application and modify your preferences according to the available spot offer.
All allocation processes are carried out considering that the student has informed themselves about all the necessary requirements to meet for the institution they are applying to.
Confirmation of Spots

- Make the application fee payment.

The slot will be considered confirmed only if both steps are completed within the informed confirmation period. Otherwise, the application will be placed in a Withdrawal status.
